Starting Five - Vegas Celebrates 1980 U.S. Team with Win vs. Panthers

On Feb. 22, 1980, the United States men's Olympic hockey team upset the Soviet Union with a 4-3 win in the medal round in Lake Placid, N.Y. Forty years later, 18 members of the team reconnected in Las Vegas to celebrate the historic achievement with the Vegas Golden Knights.

As the 1980 team was honored all weekend, the Golden Knights picked up a win of their own as they topped the Florida Panthers on a memorable day at T-Mobile Arena.

Do You Believe in Miracles?
Immortalized in hockey history for their performance at the 1980 Olympics, the U.S. Olympic team enjoyed a 40th anniversary reunion with appearances around Las Vegas. The team was honored before the game and Mike Eruzione dropped the ceremonial first face off.

Vegas Born Debut
Gage Quinney made his NHL debut to become the first player born in Nevada to suit up for an NHL game. The Las Vegas native showed that there is a path to the NHL for kids born in the desert.

All 19's
Just 19 seconds into the third period, No. 19 made his mark. Reilly Smith's 24th goal of the second stood as the game-winner as he buried it early in the final frame.

Carrier All the Way
William Carrier did it all on this play as he grabbed the puck in the neutral zone, stormed toward the Florida net and potted his seventh goal of the season.

Perfect Homestand
The game against the Panthers was the conclusion of a five-game homestand for the Golden Knights. Vegas went 5-0-0 during that stretch and kept the momentum rolling through the month of February.
